Synopsis:
Frank Sinatra stars in this exciting escape of a group of prisoners during the last days of World War II. Allied troops fight the Nazi army when American pilot Colonel Joseph Ryan ( Sinatra ) is shot down and sent to a German camp for American and English prisoners, where he turns out to be the highest-ranking officer. Soon the American pilot will earn the ironic nickname of "Von Ryan." But when Ryan relieves the British officer (Trevor Howard) of command, he begins to plan a risky escape plan that consists of taking over an entire train in which they will travel from Italy to Switzerland, while the Nazis try to hunt them down. This heroic story full of brilliant scenes of action and suspense, daring chases and spectacular real Italian settings, keeps the viewer in suspense from the first to the last scene. In addition to starring Frank Sinatra and Trevor Howard, it features a young Raffaella Carrá.
