Three factions, the armies of Garan, Kiba and Hachirokaku, compete in a machine war for total control of the island they occupy. The island is basically a prison, isolated from the rest of the world. To ensure complete quarantine, a "gravity curtain" was formed inside the island; and only machines created by the World Government are capable of entering it. The island also contains a wealth of resources, allowing the three factions to create a nearly unlimited supply of giant robots for their respective armies. But the gravity curtain has reached an unstable state and will explode within a few hours, destroying all human life on Earth. Each of the three factions controls a part of the mechanism necessary for its deactivation. Knowing the danger that the situation implies, the Government decides to send the Skull force, which is divided into two squads.
