Gunslinger and professional gambler Dr. John Holliday 'Doc' (Stacy Keach) heads to Tombstone to see his friend Wyatt Earp (Harrys Yullin). Along the way he meets Katie Elder (Faye Dunaway), a prostitute willing to do anything to escape the small town and the miserable bar where she works. Wyatt, until now a simple sheriff, plans to run for office to become sheriff of the city and have his friend Doc take charge of organizing the game and thus become rich. What at first seems like a simple plan is complicated by the hatred that the violent Ike Clanton (Mike Witney) feels for Doc and Wyatt, who will try to provoke him to kill him and his brothers without being accused of murder.
