Disc 1. The Movie: The Jewish Redlich family emigrates to Kenya in 1938, where Walter Redlich, a lawyer who works as a manager on an isolated African farm, awaits them.

While his wife Jettel, from a bourgeois family, has difficulty adapting to her new life, his shy daughter Regina seems to be reborn in this new environment. The loss of their home and family, and their inability to talk about it, endangers the stability of their marriage and little by little they will have to reconnect with each other. When the war finally ends and Walter is offered a job as a judge in Frank Furt, the Redlichs have already learned to appreciate their life in Kenya.
