Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) discovers at the age of 21 that he, like all the men in his family, has the ability to travel in time. Upon learning that he has this quality, Tim begins to benefit from it to change different aspects of his life. One day, while moving from Cornwall to London for his job as a lawyer, he meets Mary (Rachel McAdams). They both fall in love, but an incident during one of the trips through time means that their meeting never took place.
