Texts by Xavi Sánchez Pons about the production, the cast and the director
Romeo Dolorosa (Javier Bardem) is a tough and unscrupulous guy, marked by the misery of his environment, who is dedicated to robbing banks, illegal trafficking and santeros rites. Coincidentally, at the border he runs into Perdita Durango (Rosie Pérez), a petite, attractive and violent prostitute. The meeting of the two hustlers will be explosive. The two experience violence and the desperate search for survival in a hellish race. With the help of his cousin Reggie (Carlos Bardem), Romeo comes into contact with Marcelo (Don Stroud), a mafia boss who orders him to transport a truck loaded with human fetuses to a cosmetics factory to Las Vegas. Just for fun, Romeo and Perdita kidnap a young American couple. They do not seek ransom, only fresh meat for their great sexual appetites and then sacrifice them in a ritual ceremony. The trip will become increasingly frenetic, pursued by the police, a group of gangsters to whom Romeo owes money and Marcelo's own men.
