A film by Alain Jaubert, one of the best documentary filmmakers specialized in art, known mainly for his documentaries dedicated to painting, and especially for the Palettes collection. In this film dedicated to Turner, Jaubert creates an impeccable monograph on the famous painter. In addition to the film, the DVD includes a portfolio with 120 works by Turner in chronological order and each one with a descriptive sheet. Joseph Mallard William Turner is probably the most famous British painter. Incredibly precocious artist, known as "the painter of light", he was the precursor of impressionism. This film is not a simple biography, but rather a study, carried out in collaboration with some specialists, around themes common to the life and work of this unique and complex character. Water: watercolors, seascapes. The fire: yellow and red, the explosion, the industrial age. The land: English, French and Italian landscapes, the legacy of Claude Lorrain, the desert. The air: the clouds, the dissolution of forms, the temptation of nirvana. The secret: the split character, the eroticism, the absolute freedom. The journey: a desire for solitude, the discovery of the world. The invention: the new watercolor techniques, the portable studio, the vernissage craze.
