El compositor Angelo Gilardino nació en 1941 y disfrutó de una larga carrera como guitarrista de concierto desde 1958-81. Además de componer, estrenó cientos de obras nuevas para la guitarra. Hasta la fecha, ha escrito varios conciertos para su instrumento, y muchas obras de cámara y sonatas, todas con una o múltiples guitarras. Su impulso para componer vino del compositor Castelnuovo-Tedesco, quien dijo que la composición sería mejor para él, descubriría más sobre sí mismo, que de una vida de conciertos y recitales y edición de obras de otros compositores.
