Luigi Mozzani (1869-1943) nació en una familia pobre en Ancona, a una edad muy joven aprendió a tocar la guitarra y el oboe, más tarde se convirtió en oboísta principal de la Filarmónica de Nueva York. Sin embargo, es la guitarra la que fue su gran amor. Escribió un método Mozzani, que incluía sus innovaciones técnicas en estudios para estudiantes avanzados. También fue activo en el desarrollo de la guitarra como instrumento y promovió la llamada guitarra lira en forma de lira. La música de Mozzani es encantadora, lírica y hermosamente atmosférica, las obras emitidas en ciclos de estudios o piezas de carácter. Como bono se incluye la única pieza de guitarra de Ottorino Respighi, un conjunto de variaciones.
