In the middle of the Second World War, while the victories of the Third Reich were taking place, a German filmmaker and his team embarked on an unusual project: the filming of a film about the life of the Basques. Once the war ended, the film was lost and its director fell into oblivion until half a century later, the only existing copy of Im lande der Basken (In the Land of the Basques) was discovered; an enigmatic documentary that shows this people from the racial perspective of the Nazis and that is linked to the plan to establish an alliance with the Basque nationalist movement and with representatives of other ethnic groups in order to build a new territorial order in Europa . 70 years later, these dark events and their protagonists come to light thanks to the testimony of their children, the discovery of unpublished documents and the memory of surviving witnesses from a time when the dominion of the swastika extended from the Volga to the Bidasoa.
