'A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop' is the remake of the Coen brothers' first film, 'Blood Simple', released in 1985. In this version, the famous black humor and the fascinating suspense of the Coen brothers is transferred to China under the direction of Zhang Yimou, one of the most prominent directors of the 'Fifth Generation'. Wang is a pessimistic, cunning and avaricious man, owner of a shop where Chinese noodles are served in a city located in a desert area of China. He pays no attention to his wife, a woman of viperine tongue who has a love affair with Li, one of Wang's employees. Li is a timid man who, much to his regret, ends up keeping the gun his lover has bought to kill her husband. However, Wang is aware of everything they do and bribes the police officer Zhang to kill the couple. But the evil Zhang has another idea in mind.
