Manuel Pérez Clemente (Barcelona, June 24, 1941) is one of the most important and recognized Spanish illustrators, with his art he has crossed borders and has managed to be recognized worldwide. “Sanjulián, the power of illustration” is a documentary in which we will explore the life and work of this spectacular artist, told by himself, whose illustrations captivated George Lucas himself.
From his most distant beginnings as a letterer for Fox to the present, passing through his time for Illustrated Selections, his emergence into the American market for James Warren, whose unforgettable horror comics captivated thousands of readers, and his explosion in the international market illustrating covers of novels for the most important publishers, including the acclaimed Conan stories written by Robert E. Howard, even reaching the film poster, one of his great passions.
He is accompanied by first-hand testimonies from his brother Maren Pérez, and his son, Sanjulián Jr., both illustrators, as well as renowned specialists and colleagues such as the comic artist and illustrator Juan Giménez, the writer and editor Luis Gasca or the director of cinema Víctor Matellano who give their personal point of view to a life dedicated to illustration.
