Frank L. Baum's children's classic, The Wizard of Oz has been boldly adapted for the new millennium with a sinister and menacing world populated by evil sisters, cowardly psychics, brainless scientists and a whole fauna of fantastical inhabitants. Viewers familiar with Baum's work will delight in the many and varied ways in which this new version picks up echoes of the old. However, unlike what the author imagined a century ago, the world of Oz captured in Tin Man goes much further than the rainbow than before. A terrible tornado rips DG (Zooey Deschanel) from her boring life as a waitress in the Midwest and deposits her with abrupt surprise on “the other side.” The Other Zone (OZ) is a fantastic world full of wonders, but oppressed by sinister magic. For a decade now, the witch Azkadelia (Kathleen Robertson) has plunged OZ into a night of fear. Aided by her troops and the winged spies Mobat, she has seized power from her own mother, the good queen known as Lavender Eyes (Anna Galvin), and endangered once powerful Ozian leaders such as the Mystic Man (Richard Dreyfuss). Inc the small but brave Resistance Fighters of the Eastern League are losing hope that they can stop the sorceress. 2008 Awards: Emmy: Best Makeup. 9 nominations, including best miniseries 2007: Critics' Choice Awards nominee: Best TV Movie
