Germany, early 16th century. Martin Luther was an Augustinian monk who caused a schism within Christianity. In the monastery, a careful and reflective reading of the Bible leads him to rethink some questions. In 1517, he hung his 95 theses on the door of the Wittenberg church, which, in addition to denying some dogmas, condemned the bulls of indulgence that the Church sold to raise funds for the construction of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
