Abel Gray, a small-town police officer, investigates the drowning death of August Pierce, a boy from an exclusive private school. For fear of scandal, the educational center insists that it is a suicide. However, Abel discovers from Carlin, the only friend the boy had at school, that August was a victim of bullying, and that the bully was Harry, another student with whom Carlin had once dated.
