A tragic and dark story of a novice magician who falls prey to his own act.
Corky (Anthony Hopkins) is a beginner magician who finds it difficult to work alone. He lacks charm, personality or self-confidence. To improve his work and gain stage presence, he prepares a ventriloquist show with a dummy named Fats, which turns out to be a great success.
As Fats begins to develop a personality of his own, Corky becomes increasingly schizophrenic.
