At the end of 1942, Sir Ernest Pease, a scientific researcher as eminent as he lacks a sense of humor, is put on a bomber so that he can test firsthand the operation of the radar he has designed. In order not to raise alarms or suspicions, he invents the personality of Lieutenant Farrow. But the bomber is attacked and the false lieutenant, who falls into enemy territory, is captured by the Luftwaffe and taken to a prison camp. For Sir Pease, the worst thing about the situation is having to share a cabin and daily activities with a group of compatriots who are trying to manage their confinement in the best possible way and who for him are nothing more than irresponsible idiots. The British Prime Minister manages to send a message to the prisoners: they must do everything possible for an important person to escape from the camp.
