When a bear tries to get a honeycomb with which to satisfy his gluttony, he is crushed by an avalanche and dies, leaving his bear cub orphaned. The little bear is left alone and without protection, in an environment that, until he reaches maturity, is hostile to him. Youk, the orphaned bear cub, meets Kaar, an adult Kodiak bear who will end up adopting him and becoming his protector. Of all the threats, the worst is man, in this case the trappers who hunt bears.
