The venerable old man Max Mueller is accused of actually being the war criminal Karl Luger. His neighbor, ethics professor Jack Lambert, decides, after considering the issue from a moral point of view, to do justice and poisons the apples in Mr. Mueller's garden to finish him off. Days after his death, the truth is discovered: Mr. Mueller was not Luger's killer.
