Throughout the ages, men have waged war. Some for power, others for glory or honor, and some for love. In ancient Greece, the passion of two of the most legendary lovers in history, Paris, prince of Troy (Orlando Bloom) and Helen (Diane Kruger), queen of Sparta, triggers a war that will devastate a civilization. Paris's abduction of Helen, separating her from her husband, King Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson), is an insult that cannot be tolerated. Family pride establishes that an affront to Menelaus is an affront to his brother Agamemnon (Brian Cox), the powerful king of Mycenae, who soon gathers all the great tribes of Greece to recover Helen from the Trojans and defend the honor of his brother. The truth is that Agamemnon's fight for honor is corrupted by his irrepressible greed as he needs to conquer Troy to assume control of the Aegean Sea and ensure the supremacy of his vast empire. It is his insatiable desire for eternal fame that leads him to attack the gates of Troy under the banner of Agamemnon, but it will be love that finally decides his destiny.
