Year 1969. Danny Winters leaves his loved ones behind when he is kicked out of his parents' house and flees to New York. Homeless and helpless, he befriends Ray and a group of kids from Christopher Street. In Greenwich Village they frequent a bar, the Stonewall Inn, a shady club run by the mafia that houses the community of young gays, lesbians and drag queens. As Danny and his friends suffer discrimination and are repeatedly harassed by the police, their rage begins to spread in a climate of growing anger. With the throwing of a single brick, a riot occurs and a crusade for equality is born.
