The director, daughter of one of the most prestigious Iranian filmmakers Mohsen Makhmalbaf and sister of Hana Makhmalbaf, presents with her latest film THE TWO-LEGED HORSE (Mohsen's own script) a metaphor for the relationship between the powerful and the weak. Since the Iranian government did not grant her permission to shoot her latest feature film, Samira Makhmalbaf (The Apple, The Blackboard, At 5 in the Afternoon) decided to shoot THE TWO-LEGED HORSE entirely in Afghanistan. During the filming of the film a bomb exploded, six people were injured and one of them died after a few months. Synopsis: A man from the city arrives in a very poor town and offers work to a young farmer. However, before getting the position, the young man must compete with other boys to see who is capable of carrying a child whose legs were blown off by a mine. The young peasant wins. For a dollar a day he takes his load to school, racing the donkeys in the street; He bathes the child, plays with him, takes care of him, but the little handicapped man wants his father to buy him a real horse. He doesn't want another child.
