Rose and Norah Lorkowski are two unemployed sisters who find a particular way to make a living: cleaning up crime scenes after the police have done their job. For years, Rose (Amy Adams) was the leader of the cheerleaders and seemed to have a promising future, but currently she has little to brag about. Now she is a single mother trying to support her son and her disastrous sister Norah (Emily Blunt) with a job as a cleaner. When her son is expelled from school, Rose gets a job as a crime scene cleaner to try to pay for a private school for the boy. Additionally, he convinces Norah to help him in this growing business. As the sisters work together, they learn to reconcile their differences and overcome a troubled past while enjoying their business adventure.
