In the Montana American Football League there is a rule that allows the game to end when a team is behind by more than 45 points: the "Killing Shot" rule. That rule doesn't exist in the reality of the frozen plains of Montana, where alcohol and fighting are needed to survive. The protagonist, Roy begins to fall apart when his father commits suicide. The boy is recruited by Gideon Ferguson, a lonely and unsociable individual, to be part of his American Football team. A great relationship arises between coach and pupil, but Roy begins to suspect, like other people in town, if Gideon is not interested in something more than simple friendship. A dry and bitter story illustrated by beautiful sequences, and endorsed by important film festivals.
