Gaspard le Roux (c.1660 c.1707) es uno de los compositores más enigmáticos de finales del siglo XVII de Francia, ya que no se conoce nada de él, excepto una mención en un rollo de papel de impuestos y su legado de sus Pièces de clavecin, que se graban por primera vez completas. Le Roux podría ubicarse aproximadamente entre DAnglebert y Couperin. Sus preludios están escritos en el estilo no mesurado, lo que significa que el intérprete tiene que inventar los ritmos él mismo, creando así el carácter improvisado requerido de la música. La notación especial y básica de la música también deja abierta la elección del instrumento: las suites se pueden tocar tanto en formación solo como en formación de dúo, es decir, para uno o dos clavecines, ambas posibilidades se presentan en esta grabación. Otra excelente grabación del teclista holandés Pieter Jan Belder (destacado exponente en esta repertorio Musicweb) y Siebe Henstra, tocando dos magníficos clavecines nuevos de la colección de PieterJan Belders, construidos por Titus Crijnen después de Ruckers y Blanchet.
