La adición de los arpegios de la parte de piano (escrita para cuatro manos) proporciona un maravilloso contraste con los truenos del órgano. La Sinfonía en Fa Urbs Roma es la más larga de las composiciones sinfónicas de SaintSaëns y permaneció inédita durante la vida del compositor.
