Anton Bruckner's penultimate and last completed symphony is complimented here by one of his earliest and far less well-known attempts, the Symphony No. 0. It's been said the Eighth presents nothing fundamentally new, but rather his symphonic endeavors finally coming to fruition. Nowadays this symphony is regarded as one of the most important orchestral works from the late 19th century. This Newton Classics reissue makes for a very attractive Bruckner set.
