Antonio Veracini (1659-1745), violinista hábil, fue uno de los compositores más destacados de su generación, junto con Arcangelo Corelli y Giuseppe Torelli. Era una figura notablemente distinguida en la cultura musical de Florencia a finales del siglo XVII, tocando en las opulentas fiestas de la corte del Gran Ducado de Toscana. Fue educado por su padre, Francesco di Niccolò Veracini, un destacado violista. Esta nueva grabación presenta las tres colecciones publicadas de sonatas: el opus 1 y 3, que contienen sonatas en el estilo sonata da chiesa, sonatas de varios movimientos con movimientos lentos y rápidos alternos, escritos para 1 o 2 violines, cello y bajo continuo, y el opus 2, sonatas para violín solo: música de gran riqueza y complejidad, y en los movimientos lentos de una belleza exquisita y refinada.
