ALBINI: Musica Ciclica [CD de audio] Quartetto Indaco, Giorgio Mirto and Albini

Giovanni Albini ( * 1982), one of the most interesting figures among young Italian composers, is fascinated by the combination of mathematics with musical structures. In his tonal music, firmly rooted in the Western tradition, he experiments with the possibilities of developing extended compositions from the smallest musical particles (a scale, a chord, a triad) using the universal rules of mathematics. Now Brilliant Classics launches the first CD dedicated exclusively to the compositions of the northern Italian artist. Excellent musicians from their homeland such as the cellist Fabio Mureddu, the violinist Davide Alogna, the guitarist Giorgio Mirto, the guitar duo Bonfanti, the Quartetto Indaco and the female chamber ensemble Le Cameriste Ambrosiane under the direction of Dario Garegnani have recorded a varied selection of Albini's work for the album: you can hear works for solo cello, guitar(s), violin, string orchestra and string quartets no. 5-7. Albini's basic idea of combining mathematics and music is implemented here in a new and original way. The booklet contains notes on the works, as well as biographies of musicians and ensembles. The recordings were made in 2012 in Milan and Grugliasco (near Turin).
