While the captured Chakotay is forced by a local majesty to kill an ostracized young Klingon to gain his freedom, Captain Janeway's efforts to come to terms with one of the ever-changing factions are undermined. frustrated by the intervention of the treacherous Seska and her secret conspirator aboard the Starfleet ship. In addition to the threat of the Kazon, the crew must contend with the hardships of daily life in the Delta Quadrant, including psionic attacks from Bhotan telepaths, frosty relations with a hostile race that ages in reverse, and being physically duplicated by a divergence field in a plasma cloud. To which must be added the danger of Vidian harvesters, and a vengeful female caretaker. This season, technological nightmares abound, with the discovery of a Cardassian sentient missile headed to kill two million unsuspecting innocents, a race of robots whose inability to replicate prevents ending a great war, and a teleporter accident. which causes Janeway to consider voluntarily ending the life of a passenger on the ship. There is discontent among the crew, and Tom Paris's increasingly incorrect behavior causes his departure from Voyager. With the discovery of a traitor and murderer among the ranks of the crew, and with Tuvok forced by order of his superiors to abandon his captain and first officer for life on a small planet, morale rapidly deteriorates. The climax of this season will leave the morale of the Voyager crew in tatters, while the Kazon have all the cards. A real test of Starfleet morale! The journey continues.
